PEARL BREWERY AND THE SACVB SPONSOR 'AGUAS FRESCAS'
The All Women Artist Auction and Riverside Party to Benefit The Artist Foundation of San Antonio
August 22, 2011 (San Antonio, TX) – Pearl Brewery and The San Antonio Convention and Visitor's Bureau to co-sponsor Aguas Frescas, a celebration featuring the curated collection of 30 San Antonio women artists benefiting The Artist Foundation of San Antonio. Aguas Frescas will be held on Saturday, September 17th from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Pearl Amphitheatre where a trail of artwork will be installed outdoors and displayed throughout Pearl. Tickets are $75/person; there will be an art auction, music from DJ XXX and delicious bites from Chef Johnny Hernandez of La Gloria.
"What could be more natural? A collection of 30 female artists, some well known, some earlier in their careers, and all outstanding and fresh." said Andy Benevides, artist and co creator of SMART (Supporting Multiple Art Resources Together) who curated the event and came up with the idea Aguas Frescas. " Their work will be exhibited by the cool, flowing San Antonio River. This conjures up the idea of freshness that we are all desiring at the end of this long summer."
"We're thrilled to co-sponsor Aguas Frescas with the SACVB at the Pearl Amphitheatre. This will be the first of what I hope are many fine art events we host," said Elizabeth Fauerso, Chief Marketing Officer Pearl. "As an admirer of the wealth of women artists in our midst, it's a pleasure to feature them here. "
The Artist Foundation (AF) is celebrating its sixth consecutive year of awarding $5,000 grants to outstanding artists in Bexar County. USA Artists, a national organization that makes grants to individual artists, by selecting the AF as a Partner, recently recognized their work.
"Thanks to our funders and supporters we have been able to award $340,000 to 64 San Antonio artists in the past five years," said Patricia Pratchett, Chair and Co-Founder. "We are also seeing the impact that these awards are having one the depth and breadth of artistic creation, presentation and diversity. This makes our city more vibrant, alive and desirable place to live and visit."
