Update from Michael Menchaca
Graduate school at the Rhode Island School of Design has gone by so quickly and I'm now in my thesis semester. I thought I'd take a moment to keep you updated on a few current and upcoming shows.
The Estampas De La Raza show has traveled to the Vincent Price Art Museum at East Los Angeles, Monterey Park, CA. I'm very thankful to be included amongst a group of influential artists. The show is up from February 7, 2015 - May 23, 2015.
Selections from the Changarrito Collection: 2012-2014 is already up at the Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, TX. Included in the exhibit is one of my drawings from my 2012 Changarrito mobile gallery days.
Dirt Palace, Feminist Collective in Olneyville, RI, has generously given me a window to exhibit some new work for the month of February. This installation is primarily an exploration of repeat pattern printing I was doing while teaching during Wintersession semester at RISD.
Suzy Gonzalez, Michael Leon and myself were fortunate to have our collective proposal be accepted for a RISD museum site-specific intervention. We have been working collaboratively on a project titled Living Architecture: The Sacred Catwalk. We are installing this week and it officially opens to the public on March 5th as part of the RISD Museum's Sitings Projects.
Lastly, a culmination of 2 to 3 years worth of exploration by a few hundred artists will be on exhibit as 2015 RISD Thesis Exhibition will take place at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The opening is on May 14, from 6 - 8pm at the Rhode Island Convention Center and stays up until June 2nd.
Wish me luck! Hope to keep you posted soon.
